FAQ's and Stuff

Postby HarleyQuinn on Thu Jan 10, 2008 4:45 pm

Would you like me to knock up some VB6 FAQ's at some point seems this forum is looking a bit sparse at the minute? I should have some time at home to do some over the next few weeks :geek:

Yeah, that would be good.

I think all existing FAQ's will be duplicated on the wiki as well so you may want to save yourself/us a bit of time and add them there as well.

Will do, I'll start on with them as soon as I get a free night (and find my copy of VB6! )

Would it maybe just be easier to put all FAQs on the wiki, and then just use the forum to point to the wiki instead of having to type out the FAQs in the forum as well? Considering that the wiki can change, it means that the info that gets posted in the forum could become outdated, whereas if it just points to the wiki it's always pointing to current information.

If they are applicable for access, you can include it in multiple categories like so:

[[category:Visual Basic 5 & 6]]

[[category:Microsoft Access]]

I thought that was pretty cool

Yes it would. That's what the original intention was (or so I thought) but the wiki hasn't really been used as of yet.

Cool, cheers Alex. I was going to do some RegExp stuff that would work in Access and I reckon alot of the other stuff will as well (if you've not already got in your multiple Access FAQ's ;))

And having just seen a thread on TT with someone dimensioning variables in the fashion:

"Dim varA, varB, varC"

With not a single specification as the type of variable (as it happens, two should have been Objects and one an Integer) I think an FAQ for both VB6, Access and maybe even .Net (albeit slightly modified) about how to properly declare variables (as type at the very least) might also be worth posting, I can get to work on that with the VB6 (and Access portable) one's I'm doing if it's not already in the FAQ realms.

You are loosing touch with the new trends. Dynamic declaration is all the rage these days. Look at Linq, php, ruby (?),... Typesafety is for sissy's.
