XML at http://sqlcop.lessthandot.com/sqlcop.xml

Postby SteveSarre on Mon Aug 11, 2014 3:46 pm

Hello

I wanted to create some tests that I can run under tSQLt (and RedGate Test).

At http://sqlcop.lessthandot.com/sqlcop.xml
is what looks like the xml definition of the SQLCop tests.

I can parse that XML and extract columns such as name, query, detail and reference.
I can then use this info to create sps in a test schema of my choice.

Is this xml being maintained? Can I give feedback?

I suppose that one big difference between SQLCop and tSQLt is that SQLCop does not alter the database under test, and also allows a set of tests to be run against multiple databases. And some SQLCop tests are against the SQL instance, rather than against a particular database (eg "Backup Compression is default" and "Database Mail").

Can I edit my own sqlcop.xml for SQLCop to use?

This post is also relevant

Topic18997: Run SQL Cop test across databases

Can (all of) the tests in sqlcop.xml be included in the test samples for RedGate SQL Test?

Thanks
Steve

Hello George

OK thanks for those tests.

They are all dated 25 Feb 2012. Does that mean that http://sqlcop.lessthandot.com/sqlcop.xml hasn't changed since then?

Regards,
Steve
