Which IT Service Management standards do you use ?

Postby damber on Sun Jun 22, 2008 1:49 pm

What do you use for IT Service Management, Governance, etc ?

Do you not use any of these ? Do you think IT Service Management is understood within your company? Or is it generally "firefighting city" where you work?

We use Mercury and Remedy, both which suck big time and I doubt they adhere to any standards either

I'm with a smaller company now and none is used and it is not slotted in the near future. I have brought this up but source control is higher on my politial agenda with management.

Heh, same as the EA post. We were working on standards and processes last year, with the goal of formalizing over the course of the next 3 years. I was looking at CObIT (have a copy printed and bound in my cubby shelf thing) based on the opinion of my then boss, but I also did a good amount of reading on ITIL. Right now I consider myself lucky if:
a) I'm allowed to execute tasks based on priority (ie, not everything can be #1)
b) I actually receive a change management form
c) Anyone else in my department consistently follows the few processes we did put in place

Anything outside of pure development has been removed from my role, so I'm not sure what the status is with the new boss...

Um, yeah...I'm going to need you to come in on Saturday -- Bill Lumbergh, Office Space
